Introduction to Plein Air Painting and Sketching with Anne Blankson-Hemans

  • Florence Arts Centre Egremont, England, CA22 2NR United Kingdom (map)

Painting or sketching outdoors from real life offers a dynamic & immersive experience - Anne will help you get started and build confidence.

This plein air painting and sketching workshop will help you to develop the skills and confidence to draw and paint outdoors. You will learn to observe the world around you and capture an essence of what is in front of you, learning what to include and what is best left out!

With Anne's friendly and supportive guidance, you will produce your own observational work to take home with you, from sketches and painting made on site here at the fascinating and atmospheric site of the old iron ore mine. The workshop is suitable for basic or intermediate skill levels - anyone wanting to develop their outdoor painting and drawing skills is encouraged to attend.

Your ticket price includes all materials and coffee and traybakes on arrival. The workshop is based outdoors and in our Garden Studio, which opens onto our beautiful wildlife garden. Take time after the workshop to relax and explore the arts centre and wildlife garden, learn about the Florence Mine site and enjoy our Fair-trade coffee and teas.

Ticket sales end 7 days in advance so don't miss out!

Anne is a multi-disciplined artist based in West Cumbria, working out of her studio in Cleator Moor. She is a figurative artist, visual story teller and portrait painter. To limit the isolation of studio painting, Anne can often be found outdoors painting and sketching ‘en plein air’, where she enjoys the immersive experience and vivid results. You can see her work at www.annebh-art.com

Suitable for adults or those aged 14+ if accompanied by a paying adult. You'll need reasonable mobility in your hands. Our centre is wheelchair accessible with parking on site, ramped access to the studio door and level throughout. We have an Access toilet.
