Could you help to support Florence?
We are a small participatory arts centre at Florence Mine on the edge of Egremont. We’re here for, and with the support of, local people - artists, volunteers, collaborators, partners of all kinds.
With volunteers and a small staff, we host and run workshops and events in our pottery, studio and performance space and we are a ‘warm spot’ for local people to enjoy refreshments, our local makers shop and gallery. We even make our own artist materials from the iron ore on site!
CURRENT VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITIES:
We’d love to find volunteers who can help to make our visitors feel welcome and well informed, and can help us to run the refreshment and shop facilities. The role covers days when we are open to the public - from Friday to Sunday. Volunteers will be supervised by the Coordinator on duty (we have 2) who will be responsible for you during your shift. The main duties are:
Welcome visitors and explain what’s available today and how to keep abreast of what’s coming up (ie join mailing list)
Offer to make hot drinks or show visitors how they can make their own and explain PAYF (pay as you feel) charges.
Take payments on the till (training given) for drinks, snacks and shop purchases
Keep the shop and kitchen area tidy
Help with occasional other tasks as advised by the Coordinator eg displaying new stock, taking deliveries
Please drop in for a chat or phone (Wednesday to Sunday) or email florence@florenceartscentre.com for more details.
