Lifting and Shifting: Cardboard Machines

  • Florence Arts Centre Egremont, England, CA22 2NR United Kingdom (map)

This is one of 3 Free Family Workshops:

All workshops take place in Florence Arts Centre and run by artist Anna Clough who is exhibiting in The Change Room in the gallery space. Each workshop is aimed at families with children aged 7-12yrs and is free to attend. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Please book a separate ticket for each member of the family.

We will explore how iron ore was once lifted and shifted at Florence Mine exploring the site and using archive images, learning how different machines worked to transport Iron ore. Then we will make our own large-scale lifting and shifting machines out of cardboard. We will then take them outside to the mine, putting them to use.

Please wear sensible shoes and bring a coat and some scrap cardboard for this session.
