As a part of our Re-Fashioned Textile Fest, Eva Watson-Graham – AKA The Violet Wren Creates will be hosting a taster session of Slow-Stitching.
Begin a journey of creativity and mindfulness with our slow-stitched origami butterfly workshop.
This workshop introduces participants to the foundational techniques of slow stitching, along with the delicate art of folding and shaping fabric into graceful butterfly form.
Through gentle guidance, you will explore textures, patterns, and colours, as you craft a unique butterfly that reflects your inner creativity.
Open to participants of all skill levels, the workshop offers a welcoming environment to embrace the mindful artistry of slow stitching while fostering personal expression.
The workshop will enable you to make beautifully handmade butterflies, perfect for creating memory brooches, embellishing items, gifting to loved ones, or inspiring future slow-stitching projects.
Eva Watson-Graham is a textile artist from West Cumbria. Her love for traditional crafts started in her twenties with hand-spinning, and she's been on an artistic journey ever since. Eva has experimented in wet felting and weaving, and more recently she has embraced contemporary embroidery and the benefits of slow stitching on our creativity and mental health. Eva likes to up-cycle materials into her work, especially old embroidery pieces destined for landfill, giving them new life in her creations.
As a member of Fabricate, a textile art co-operative from the Western Lake District fells, she collaborates with other artisans to promote the region's craft traditions, showcasing her work at venues such as Florence Arts Centre, The Beacon Museum, The Gather and Ennerdale Show.
This session is suitable for beginners aged 18+ with reasonable mobility. Our centre is wheelchair accessible with parking on site, ramped access to the studio door and level throughout. We have a wheelchair-accessible toilet.
